The HTC Desire Z brings the best of full-phone touchscreens and a full QUERTY keyboard, making it one of the most innovative mobile phones available today. With a clever pop-open mechanism the raised-key QUERTY keyboard is available right alongside the 3.7” touch screen, giving the user the best of both worlds.
Operating on either the 2G Network (GSM 850/900/1800/1900) or on the 3G Network (HSDPA 1900/2100), the HTC Desire Z has changed the face of connectivity, with the new built-in HTC Sense offering clever new features such as the ability to “phone home” if you’re out and you forgot your HTC Desire Z! With the ability to lock and/or wipe remotely, you no longer need to fear personal data leaks if your phone goes missing for any reason. Also, with HTC Sense you can have your Desire Z handset receive and send texts remotely and even forward your calls to another number.
HTC Desire Z measures 119 x 60.4 x 14.2mm, and weighs 180g. This of course includes a fully-featured QUERTY keyboard and a TFT capacitive touchscreen displaying 16 million colours; the 3.7” screen is 480×800 pixels. An accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate allows you to move the phone horizontally or vertically as you require; the display will rotate in real time. A proximity sensor for auto turn-off saves the battery, an optical trackpad and touch-sensitive control panel make it easy to navigate and select the functions and apps you need, and with HTC Sense UI, multi-touch input methods are made the norm.
Alert types available on the HTC Desire Z include vibration, MP3 and WAV ringtones. Speakerphone with a 3.5mm audio jack is found on the HTC Desire Z.
In the phonebook, practically unlimited entries and fields are possible, as with call records, which gives you peace of mind, and Photocall makes it easier than ever to call contacts.
Internal memory offers an incredible 1.5GB with up to 512MB RAM, with a microSD card slot allowing you to add up to 32GB. WLAN with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP, and microUSB v2.0 bring all your connectivity requirements under the one HTC Desire Z roof.
A camera will have you taking photos at 5MP, measuring in a 2592 x 1944 pixels, with autofocus to snap the shot at the best possible moment and a LED flash to help out in low light or night-time conditions. Face detection and geo-tagging add value to your home photo library. Video at 720p is available.
The Android OS v2.2 (Froyo) skips along smoothly with the Qualcomm MSM 7230 800 MHz processor CPU. Java via third party application and fully-functioning HTML browser bring the web to the palm of your hand.
